After 8 weeks of non-stop action, The Defense Season 3 has brought countless teams together, showing their skills in a symphonic display of lightning fast reactions and unbeatable teamwork. However, the time for the group stage is over, and only the top 16 teams can make it to the brackets.
The group stages consists of 16 teams, 4 teams each from the 4 groups, A,B,C & D. The teams that come in 1st and 2nd place in their groups (A,B,C & D), will proceed on into the Upper Bracket. However, the teams that come in 3rd and 4th place in their groups will proceed on to the Lower Bracket.
Group Stage Rankings
Group A
In Group A, 
Mousesports, with a perfect score of 7wins – 0 losses advances easily to the Upper Brackets. However, a tiebreaker between 
Team Liquid, 
Virtus.Pro and 
Absolute Legends Academy with a score of 4 wins – 3 losses each was intiated, to determine the eventual winner of the highly sought after Upper Bracket slot. This saw Virtus.Pro rise to the occasion, driving both Team Liquid and Absolute Legends Academy to the Lower Brackets.
Group B
Group B was much more straightforward, with Team Empire and Team Dignitas proceeding on to the Upper Bracket accompanied by near perfect scores, 6 wins – 1 loss each. 
4 Friends + Chrillee and 
Mortal Teamwork (Former mTw) qualify for the Lower Bracket, which scores of 5 wins – 2 losses and 3 wins – 4 losses respectively.
Group C
Group C’s Upper Bracket participants were very clear cut, with Evil Geniuses and No Tidehuter proceeding on, both with scores of 5 wins – 2 losses. However, as 3 teams each with a score of 4 wins – 3 losses qualified for the Lower Brackets, 
Gamer University Peru, Turtle Masters, and 
dd.Dota, tiebreakers had to be intiated again. This time, Gamer University Peru and dd.Dota managed to qualify for the Lower Brackets, after an intense few matches.
Group D
Group D saw Fnatic.EU having a perfect score of 7wins – 0 losses, the same as Group A’s Mousesports. The 2nd slot for the Upper Brackets were fought over by teams 
Natus Vincere and 
3DMAX. After a fierce, flurried exchange in a heated match, 3DMAX emerged into the Upper Bracket, and Natus Vincere has to make do in the Lower Bracket, alongside Absolute Legends (Main). They had a score of 5wins – 2 losses and 4wins – 3 losses respectively.
