It is finally time for the main event of the Gigabyte E-Sports Tournament (GEST) Dota 2. 16 teams from at least eight different countries will compete for a shot at the 1,500 USD prize pool and the opportunity to advance into GEST The Challenge.
To determine the participants of GEST, eight different national/regional GMPGL qualifiers were held. The final four qualifiers concluded this weekend.
Singapore:
NeoES.Int,
Sun – With the absence of stellar teams like Zenith, First Departure, and even last month’s top finisher Harrosh – NeoES.Int was the expected first place for the group. Sun, however, proved to be a worth adversary by taking their finals series into three games. Sun is reportedly ex-Stars team.
Thailand:
MiTH.Trust,
NeoES.TH – MiTH.Trust re-emerges on top of the Thailand Dota 2 scene after finishing just third last month. Last month’s runner-up, Awake, was not able to compete this month.
Indonesia:
JoeNet ELITE,
ULTImate – JoeNet also re-emerges on the GEST Dota 2. It can be remembered that they were able to compete on the first ever GEST Dota 2 held last year. ULTImate finished second
Non-SEA:
Chains Stack – The SEA-mix team is really impressive as of late, taking the Non-SEA title easily. No Chinese teams were present on this month’s GMPGL Non-SEA.
These 16 teams will compete on the four-day GEST March main tournament. There would be a GSL-style group stage on GEST’s main tournament from hereon.
